I am looking for a Drupal programmer to help create a social networking site for a non-profit organization in the US.
The site would host initially about 5 or 6 networks related to parent involvement in education. We want all of the networks to share an initial common portal, similar to www.mothersclick.com (a Drupal site). Each group would then have its own main page with unique theme/colors/banner, plus its own unique calendar, forum (with multiple categories), file vault, links/resources page, and memberlist (with ability to send notices just to the group members).
I also want the site to be able to accommodate Drupal's Organic Groups so that members can start their own local groups. However, I would like this functionality to be permitted by a super-administrator only, but after permission, the creator of the sub-group should have administrative rights for his/her group.
I would want to be able to set some of the groups to be private, and others public. I would like to be able to quickly and easily feature posted material from one or another group (such as blog posts, discussions, articles, photos, or videos) on any of the sites, or at the top-level portal.
Also, I would like each group's page to look a little more like a main/homepage than what is shown on mothersclick.com -- at least adding blocks for informatin and latest activity in the forums, and upcoming events for that group, etc.
As I would be the one to ultimately oversee the site, I would need you to train me in how to maintain the site, add new groups, create/apply new themes/banners, etc. It would be helpful to be able to do this via screencasts. I have Skype and can use other tools for us to connect easily (e.g., DimDim or something) and record what we are doing. Accordingly, you need to feel comfortable training someone. Ideally, you would set up the main functionality for maybe two of the groups (I would supply the graphics for banners and such), and then teach me how to set up the rest and be available to help.
If you are interested, I would need to know an approximate budget and timeline (we'd like this done very soon). I would also need to see some of the sites you have worked on. You should be very familiar with Organic Groups.
